The 16th Jeonju International Film Festival held International Competition Jury Press Conference!

‘International Competition’ Jury Press Conference for the 16th Jeonju IFF was held at Press Conference Room in Press Center at 5:30pm, Friday, May 1. At the press conference, 5 jury members, Greek actor Vangelis MOURIKIS, director ZHJANG Lu from Gyeonju and Scenery, actor/director MOON Sori from The Running Actress, Austrian director Jessica HAUSNER and Kate TAYLOR, BFI London Film Festival programmer for East Asia selection attended.

With Programmer LEE Sangyong as a host, jury members expressed their feelings and examination standards. Director Jessica HAUSNER said, “I know aesthetics and forms of films are important, but I will focus on those that made new attempt and inspire me as a director.” Actor Vangelis MOURIKIS who has been invited to ‘Greek Special Program’ told his unique thinking, “Movies that move our mind are those that deliver creative inspiration. I think films that make me write letters and talk with friends move my mind.”

Mentioning her jury experience at Tokyo Filmex, actor MOON Sori said, “Tokyo Filmex experience influenced quite a lot to me when choosing scenarios. Since then, I have been looking for movies with low budget but new style, and this stimulates me to become a courageous actor.”

5 ‘International Competition’ juries will go on a strict examination to 10 films. At Awards Ceremony which will be held at 7:00pm, Wednesday, May 6, award-winning films of ‘International Competition’, ‘Korean Competition’ and ‘Korean Competition For Shorts’ will be announced. ‘International Competition’ gives 3 awards, Grand Prize, Best Picture Prize and Special Jury Prize. Opening at April 30, the 16th Jeonju IFF will last to May 9, for 10 days.
