The 7th Jeonju Project Market- 10 Award Winners were announced!
- Awardees from ‘Feature Film/Documentary Pitching’ and ‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ were announced

The 7th Jeonju Project Market (JPM) announced award winners from ‘Feature Film/Documentary Pitching’ of ‘Jeonju Project Promotion’, and ‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ at Awards Ceremony which was held at Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema, 4th floor of Jeonju Cinema Complex, at 7:00pm on Sunday, May 3. Jeonju Project Promotion, consisted of ‘Feature Film Pitching’ and ‘Documentary Pitching’, discovers and supports original feature films and documentary projects that aim theatrical release.
In ‘Feature Film Pitching’, Monk(directed by PARK Jungbum) won Grand Prize, Kawha(writen by CHO Hong-jun) won TV5MONDE Award and Audience Award, and Curtain Call(produced by CHOI Seungho) won Excellence Award. In ‘Documentary Pitching’, Bubble Family(directed by MA Minji) won Grand Prize, Her Album(directed by KIM Jungin) won TV5MONDE Award and Audience Award, and The Wolf in the Fence(directed by JANG Hyobong) won Excellence Award.
Award winners from ‘Feature Film Pitching’ and ‘Documentary Pitching’ were carefully selected through pitching competition in front of investment/production/distribution associates. Film professional juries(WON Dong-yun, LEE Sangyong and JEONG Yoon-chul) from ‘Feature Film Pitching’ commented on the background of unanimously choosing Monk as Grand Prize winner by saying, “Monk is high-quality drama and has vivid characters. Especially, shocking reversal presented through the tug-of-war between truth and lie was very impressive.” Juries(JUNG Sang-jin, LEE Dong-gi and BAE Gihyung) from ‘Documentary Pitching’ said, “Based on possibility of communication and sympathy with the audience, we selected what attracts our mind with serious eyes.”
Especially, TV5MONDE, the biggest national broadcasting system in France, which supported only ‘Feature Film Pitching’ last year, has expanded support areas to ‘Documentary Pitching’ this year. They provide total 10 million KRW of production grants, 5 million for each pitching, becoming strong supporter for projects in planning stage. As a host of the Awards Ceremony, President of TV5MONDE Korean Branch and Pandamedia, Nicholas Picato showed great affection to each project by saying, “We will collaborate to help great documentary projects as well as feature films proceed to production.”
In ‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ for those from ‘Korea Cinemascape’ which have no distributors, Under the Sun(directed by AHN Seulki) and Kim’s Dilcusha-Life Goes on(directed by KIM Taeyeong, LEE Seayoung) each won Distribution Support Award and Audience Award. Distribution Support Award consists of 10 million KRW of distribution grants and 1 month screening at Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema, sponsored by YU&IQ Entertainment.
Award Winners from ‘Feature Film/Documentary Pitching’ and ‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ are expected to proceed secure production and distribution, thanks to various kinds of production grants. Other finalists than award winning films are also expected to find new paths through meetings with film industry associates. The 7th JPM which has had the largest scale ever, with 460 applicants from 160 investment/production/distribution companies, will continue its intense heat until Monday, May 4.
