Awards Ceremony of the 16th Jeonju International Film Festival will be held at Jeonju Sports Stadium on May 6!
- Actor OH Jiho and Soy will be hosts
- Award winners from International Competition, Korean Competition, and Korean Competition For Shorts will be announced
Awards Ceremony of the 16th Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF) will be held at Jeonju Sports Stadium from 6:00pm on May 6. With actor OH Jiho and Soy as hosts, award-winning films from main competition sections such as ‘International Competition’, ‘Korean Competition’ and ‘Korean Competition For Shorts’ will be announced.
At the event, Chairman of Organizing Committee KIM Seung-su, Festival Director KO Suk-man, ‘International Competition’ jury and Greek actor Vangelis MOURIKIS, Director ZHANG Lu, ‘Korean Competition’ jury and film critic Tony RAYNS, and ‘Korean Competition For Shorts’ jury and director PARK Jungbum will attend. Actors from Outdoor Screening Film on that day, Like a French Film, will also grace the event, including SHIN Min-chul, SHIN Jisoo, JUNG Joon-won and LEE Yumi.
Among 10 finalists of ‘International Competition’, Grand Prize, Best Picture Prize and Special Jury Prize winners will be announced, and out of 10 finalists from ‘Korean Competition’, winners of Grand Prize as well as Distribution Support Prize and Upcoming Project Prize, sponsored by CGV Arthouse, will be announced. Among 20 finalists of ‘Korean Competition For Shorts’, winners of Grand Prize, Best Director Prize, and Special Jury Prize will be announced, and lastly, NETPAC Prize will be awarded by NETPAC, Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema, to the best Korean feature from ‘Korea Cinemascape.’
Especially on Awards Day, trophy of the 16th Jeonju IFF will be unveiled. It is made of white porcelain, rarely to be seen in any film festivals around the world, by ceramic studio ‘Tohwarang’, run by two ceramists KIM Hyungjun and SEO Sukman. The new form of trophy is expected to give special meaning to awardees.
The iconic band representing Hongdae indie music scene, ‘10cm’ will heat the Awards Ceremony. After the ceremony ends, there will be the screening of the last outdoor film, Like a French Film. 2,000 free tickets for Awards Ceremony and Like a French Film will be distributed with maximum 2 per person at ticket offices in Jeonju Square and Jeonju Lounge from 9:00am on Awards Day, by the order of arrival. The 16th Jeonju IFF will continue until May 9 after Awards Ceremony on May 6, with screenings of hottest titles and award-winning films.
