(Director: Lee Hyun-jung), selected by ‘Jeonju Cinema Project 2015’ of the 16th Jeonju International Film Festival has been officially invited from the 26th Cinequest Film Festival(CQFF), March 1-13, 2016 for ´Narrative Feature Competition´.
The Cinequest Film Festival (CQFF) held in the Silicon Valley, United States. , with 15 other films, will be considered to be the ´Best Feature Film (Drama) in Narrative Feature Film Competition´ which can be seen as the main competition among 5 other sections.
The Cinequest Film Festival (CQFF) has introduced "a soothing melody that resonates in the soft night air". Based on the official website of CQFF, director Lee was introduced as "a director who has worked with the myth of Korea and feminism as her theme", thus her film, Samnye, might be "an expansion of the director´s cinematic experiment".
Jeonju International Film Festival has achieved admirable results, as all three selections of ‘Jeonju Cinema Project 2015’ has been launched in number of international film festivals. Starting off with the non-competitive section of the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIIF), (Director Kim Heejung), one of the selection of ‘Jeonju Cinema Project 2015’, has been invited to the 46th International Film Festival of India, the 39th Goteborg Film Festival and others. (Director: Benjamin Naishtat) received a grand prize in ´Competitive Section´ of the 30th Mar del Plata Film Festival, and advanced to ´Filmmakers of the Present´ of the 68th Locarno International Film Festival.
sets a scene in ´Samnye in Jeollabuk-do Province´, where a man falls for the place while a woman tries to get away from it. Director Lee hyun-jung made a name by (2012), her experimental documentary, which was featured by the ´International competitive section´ of the 30th Torino Film Festival. In her first feature film, (2013), she explored the dragon, one of the most important symbols in both Western and Eastern civilizations, within the contemporary frame. This was also invited to the Korean Competition Section in the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival.
