The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival(Jeonju IFF) unveils its official posters for 2016. Official posters which were released on Monday, Feb 22 indicates two main characters(consonants) of Jeonju IFF: ‘ㅈ[jieut]’ for ‘전주(Jeonju)’ and ´ㅍ[pieup]´for ‘필름페스티벌(film festival)’.
In the same manner as the 16th Jeonju IFF, the 17th Jeonju IFF decided to make use of both main poster and alternative poster. The main poster uses the consonant ´ㅈ[jieut]´ to emphasizes ´Jeonju´, the host city, and the alternative poster uses the consonant ´ㅍ[pieup]‘ to emphasize film festival.
On the other hand, the poster has a line that meets another line which symbolizes ´ㅈ[jieut]’ and ‘ㅍ[pieup]’ as the role of film festivals, where ´film´ meets ´audience´ freely. In terms of visualization, ´ㅈ[jieut]’ and ‘ㅍ[pieup]’ can be seen as the light from the screen that also indicates the nature of the cinema.
The utives of Jeonju IFF commented on the reason for changes, “The 17th Jeonju IFF will present ´freshness´ which will be consistent with the festival identity(F.I) of the 16th Jeonju IFF." Renewed Jeonju IFF´s F.I system, as of the 16th Jeonju IFF, is to change the symbol each year and imprints festival image through the key color and logo. Based on this strategy, the 17th Jeonju IFF simply uses its logo, festival dates and symbol to deliver implications.
The two key characters for this year, ´ㅈ[jieut]’ and ‘ㅍ[pieup]’, will be used for various types of promotion materials such as official posters, printouts, publications and designed products. Along with the key color (orange), blue will be an alternative color which is to be changed upon policies of film festival each year. It symbolizes ´liveliness´ and ´youth´.
The 17th JeonjuIFF’s official posters can be seen on its website (eng.jiff.or.kr) and social network, such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram.
