The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival Unveils Outdoor Screenings

- Diverse stories such as Animation, thriller and family movie

- Various events await audience: Gala Presentation, Stage greetings, performances

The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF, LEE Choong Jik, Chairman of Executive Committee) unveils ‘Outdoor Screening’ which will light up the nights in the outdoor theater along with diverse events. The outdoor screenings will be screened from April 29(Fri) to May 5(Thu) at 8pm in Cinema street (OTCO parking lot) with 2000 seats. This year’s program includes Roschdy ZEM’s Monsieur Chocolat, LEE Joonik’s Dongju; The Portrait of A Poet, LEE Sung-gang’s KAI, TSUTSUMI Yukihiko’s The Big Bee, Robert EDWARDS’s When I Live My Life Over Again, Alain GSPONER’s Heidi and Chad HARTIGAN’s Morris from America.

Dongju; The Portrait of A Poet (April 30, Sat) and Morris from America (May 5, Thu) are to have ‘Gala presentation’ for the audience. Gala presentation is an event which directors and actors present in the screening place by having red carpet event and stage greetings for the audience to enjoy a cinema.

Dongju; The Portrait of A Poet is about two men, a poet YOON Dongju and his cousin SONG Monggyu, struggling in Japanese colonial era. Director LEE Joonik and the actor PARK Jungmin will meet the audience through gala presentation. Also, director Chad HARTIGAN with the actor Markees CHRISTMAS of Morris from America, a new feeling of film that makes cultural differences and the joy of growing up interesting by presenting them through the coming-of-age story of a boy who moves from the U.S. to Germany and dreams of becoming a rapper, visits Jeonju IFF for gala presentation as well.

On May 1(Sun), KAI, the new animation by director LEE Sung-gang will be screened with a stage greeting. This is about a boy named Kai who lives in a peaceful village which happens to be covered by ice. The River Spirit who is the protector of the village gives the brave young Kai the only key to fighting off Snow Queen Hattan and asks him to save the village. On May 3(Tue), Christopher WALKEN and Amber HEARD of Danish Girl (Tom HOOPER) star in When I Live My Life Over Again. This conflict between a father and a daughter is covered by harmonious music. Before the screening, singer BAEK Ji woong and JUNG Sejin will perform for the audience outdoor.

‘Outdoor Screening’ will be held from April 29(Fri) for 7 days, starting with Monsieur Chocolat. The history of the clown Chocolat, the first black artist of the French scene who had huge success in the Belle Epoque. The film tells the story of this extraordinary artist. The Big Bee, which will be screened on May 2 (Mon), is about Japan’s most advanced helicopter. Suddenly, Big B is activated remotely by some unknown agent. The aircraft’s designer is doubly shocked since his son is accidentally on board. The Big Bee is a 2015 Japanese thriller film based on the novel of the same name by Keigo HIGASHINO who has also adapted bestsellers, Perfect Number and White Night into a film. On May 4(Wed), a beautiful family movie Heidi will be screened. Johanna SPYRI’s Heidi, the biggest Swiss bestseller, has been adapted into a film again, and the audience can enjoy the Alps in a wide screen outdoor.
