The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival Unveils Various Performances and Exhibition Programs

- Four Performances including Main Performances ‘Musicians Meet Cinema’ and busking performance ‘We are Buskers’

- The Second’ 100 Films, 100 Posters’, Lois PATINO ‘Vertical: Time and Landscape’ and ‘In search of the drawing world of Sergei M.EISENSTEIN’

The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF) unveils diverse performances and exhibition programs. ‘Musicians Meet Cinema’ will be held from April 29(Fri) to May 1(Sun), for 3 days, at 5:00pm. On May 6 (Fri), there will be ‘Good Concert’ at 7pm. ‘We are Buskers’ can be seen on Cinema street from April 29(Fri) to May 5(Thu). On April 30(Sat), there will be an audience party, ‘Night-time Stroll-Camping in Jeonju’.

KO Young-bae of SORAN will be a host for ‘Musicians Meet Cinema’, a movie talk concert that people of all ages can enjoy. Musicians will be on the stage with a choice of film which is screened at Jeonju IFF, and play the music which they have been inspired. Warm stories of movies and fantastic musical performances by Daybreak, OKDAL, and SORAN are expected at this performance. SORAN is the band which plays pop and modern rock, OKDAL is another band which plays emotional music with acoustic sound based. Daybreak is also a band with number of hit songs since 2007.

The ‘C&M Good concert will be held at Outdoor screening venue in Jeonju IFF Lounge on May 6(Fri) while celebrating the eve before the Closing ceremony. Meanwhile, KIM Guerim will be the MC. Crying Nut and Biuret will be guests for this concert. The ‘Good concert’, which is held in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital’s Children’s Cancer Center, is a broadcast with a live audience that travels around the nation and abroad to raise funds for the treatment of young cancer patients. There is no admission charge and the audience will be seated on a first come-first served basis.

‘We are Buskers’ is a performance event by twelve indie musicians from Hongdae and Jeonju. They will be performing at ‘Busking State’ in Cinema street and ‘CGV Jeonju IFF Stage’ in Jeonju IFF Lounge. This will be a performance of professional buskers from Hongdae and musicians from Jeonju city altogether. ‘Night-time Stroll-Camping in Jeonju’ is another event for the audience, on April 30(sat). Starting from 10pm. there will be a party right after the outdoor screening, Dongju: The Portrait of A Poet (LEE Joonik) finishes at CGV Jeonju IFF Stage. This place will be built like a camping place, and the audience can enjoy free can of beer, beverages and other party snacks. For the audience party, the popular acoustic duo SEENROOT and synthpop duo LONG:D.

All three exhibition programs are free to attend:’ The Second ‘100 Films, 100 Posters’, Lois PATINO ‘Vertical: Time and Landscape’ and ‘In search of the drawing world of Sergei M.EISENSTEIN’.

At Cinema Street in Gosa-dong, audience can enjoy exhibitions of 100 posters of the 17th Jeonju IFF’s official selections made by 100 young, creative graphic designers. This ‘100 Films, 100 Posters’ exhibition is held from April 29(Fri) to May 7(Sat), Anyone can attend the exhibition from 10am to 9pm. This will be available from Cinema street to Nambu Market. Posters are available for sales only at the 17th Jeonju IFF, and they will be at ‘100 Posters Shop’ in Cinema street.

‘Vertical: Time and Landscape’ is an exhibit curated by Lois PATINO who won the Wooseok Award at the 15th Jeonju International Film Festival with Coast of Death. The exhibit focuses on the possibility of expression through various formations of time and images of landscapes that one image harbors. A diverse exhibit that utilizes film, multiscreen projections and video installations. It will be availablefrom April 29(Fri) to May 7(Sat), 10am to 9pm at Exhibition Room of Jeonju Cinema Complex.

‘In search of the drawing world of Sergei M.EISENSTEIN’ will be available from April 29(Fri), 10am to 9pm, for 7 days at ‘Becky’ Art Space in Jeonju Hanok Village, Director Eisenstein is a genius who is also famous as a drawing artist with his famous work Bronenosets Potemkin(1925) and October(1927). However, many of his works are not known to the world. In collaboration with the Russian National Archive, this year’s Jeonju International Film Festival holds a historic exhibit of 50 of his rare works.

With various performances, exhibitions, and events, the 17th Jeonju IFF will run from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, May 7, for 10 days.
