The 8th Jeonju Project Market holds Open Forum at the 17th Jeonju International Film Festival

The 8th Jeonju Project Market (JPM) holds ‘Open Forum’ which discuss in the form of talk program regarding film industry-related topics, from May 1 to May 3, at the 17th Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF). Open Forum is a place for open discussion with a panel of experts from different fields about various issues concerning Korean film industry. They will assess the current status of Korean film industry and discuss its future in this program which is the only event of JPM that is open to public.
This year, art theater issue and governmental policies on financial support will be the main issue of this forum. The very first form, ‘Forum 1’, is about ‘Art Theater, a Feasible Future’, which will be discussing coexistence of art theaters among conglomerate-oriented multiplex. CHOI Nak-yong, a vice president of BaekDu-DaeGan Films Co., Ltd., will lead this forum, and associates from art theaters and Korean Film Council will participate as panels to seek for sustainable management. ‘Forum 1’ will be held at 4pm, May 2 (Mon) at Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema.
‘Forum 2’ discusses about ‘The Reality of the Culture Prosperity Policy Seen Through Issues Regarding Independent Movie Theaters’. Recently, number of independent movie theaters is closing down the business as they experience management difficulty. This forum will be a chance to debate on governmental policies, leading by WON Seunghwan of ‘Society for Independent Film House’. Programmers of Independent movie theaters and independent film directors will participate as panels. It will be held at 4pm, May 3(Tue) at Yeonghwa Hotel.
To explore diverse jobs in film industry such as investment, distribution and more, movie industry associates will be having special lectures under the name of ‘Movie Business World: Off-Screen Movie Industry Jobs’. KANG Gi-Myeong, CEO of Academy LoCA, will hold a lecture on movie business duties and employment. BAEK Seunghwan, CEO of Baek Pictures, will have a lecture on movie investment and distribution. Lastly, LEE Jihye, CEO of Challan Film, will talk about importing and marketing in film industry. This lecture, composed of three chapters, will be held at 4pm, May 1(Sun), 6pm, May 1(Sun) and 6pm May 2 (Mon) at Yeonghwa Hotel in Jeonju.
‘Open Forum’, an open discussion regarding film industry is an open event for the public. The 8th Jeonju Project Market will be held from May 1(Sun) to May 4(Wed) during the 17th Jeonju International Film Festival period.
