Jeonju Project Market Kicked Off its 8th Edition

- About 400 film industry associates attend, hosting the largest scale ever

- Distribute high-quality Korean films and introduce original feature film/documentary projects

While Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF) started on Thursday, April 28, Jeonju Project Market (JPM) kicked off its 8th edition on Sunday, May 1. Lasting to Wednesday, May 4, the 8th JPM holds the largest scale ever, as over 400 associates from 160 investment, production, and distribution companies applied this year. Based on Jeonju Cinema Complex, they hold various events including Jeonju Project Promotion, Rising Cinema Showcase and Open Forum.

Jeonju Project Promotion (JPP) introduces 10 original feature films and documentary projects. The five films from ‘Feature Film Pitching’ will be KIM Yang-hee’s The Poet’s Love, KIM Youngnam’s A Duck’s Grin, SHIN Aga’s THE Snob, LEE Jeong-gook’s Ingle, the burning city and KO Eunki’s Iron Men.

Finalists of ‘Feature Film Pitching’ are consisted of were mostly chosen unanimously from preliminary stage, for their creative planning and high-quality scenarios. Especially, many film industry associates are showing great interests in investments and producing in advance.

For ‘Documentary Pitching’, the following films are awaiting business meetings: CHO Eunsung’s The birth of espionage, KWON Woojung’s My Daughter’s Tiptoeing, LEE Juho’s The Disco Star, JUNG Hyungmin’’s The way to Mustang and KIM Hee-chul’s The painter’s view. These films had many advance reservation for business meetings.

‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ is a distribution-supporting program for those from ‘Korea Cinemascape’, which have no distributors. Rising Cinema Showcase’ has chosen five films as following: PARK Youngim and KIMJUNG Minwoo’s The Romance of a mediocre actress and a short bald man, KIM Daehyun’s Try to remember, LIM Jungha’s Le Tour, the memories of a forgotten dream, KIM Soojunng’s A Blue Mouthed Face and AN Boyoung’s Dear Grandma. Two films from this section had entered into a contract last year, so it is being watched with keen interest this year.

Meanwhile, ‘Open Forum’ will take place at May 2(Mon) and 3(Tue), to share opinions with general public about film industry related issues. This year, art theater issue and governmental policies on financial support will be the main issue of this forum. The very first form, ‘Forum 1’, is about ‘Art Theater, a Feasible Future’, which will be discussing coexistence of art theaters among conglomerate-oriented multiplex.

To explore diverse jobs in film industry such as investment, distribution and more, movie industry associates will be having special lectures under the name of ‘Movie Business World: Off-Screen Movie Industry Jobs’.

The 8th JPM will announce awardees of ‘Rising Cinema Showcase’ and ‘Jeonju Project Promotion’ at ‘JPM Awards Ceremony’, which will be held at 2:00pm, May 3.
