The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival Draws Sellout Crowds
- Record-breaking sellout success compared with the same period last year
- Outdoor screening, exhibition, performances and events draw big crowd
Spring festival fever reaches the boiling point at the 17th Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF). The festival has begun on April 28(Thu), and cinema street and Jeonju IFF Lounge were packed with numerous audiences last weekend.
Since its beginning, tickets were sold out for 106 screenings until last Sunday. As of fourth day of festival, ticket sales broke the record with 106th sellout, up slightly from last year’s figure of 95th sellout by 11. The highest record was 104th sellout in 2014. Two thousand seats of the outdoor screening, Dongju; The Portrait of A Poet, were completely sold out, which is record-breaking.
Jeonju IFF has placed theaters, outdoor screening venue and events in cinema street in order to maximize accessibility and efficient management. Executive committee also interprets the changes such as concentration of venues and designating CGV Jeonju Gosa have drawn big crowd this year.
The events and performances also had shown the fever from April 29(Fri) to May 1 (Sun). From 5pm to 6:30pm, Musicians Meet Cinema has invited many audiences. Specially, OKDAL has drawn over 1,000 audiences on April 30. On May 1, modern rock band SORAN attracted over 900 audiences. Night-time Stroll-Camping in Jeonju has prepared free beer for audiences, which have been run out in a moment.
Vertical: Time and Landscape and 100 Films, 100 Posters had many visitors and proved to be successful projects.
The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival has now 6 more days left. Due to designation of holiday on May 6, this fever of festival is expected to be continued until the end. Good Concert is scheduled to take place on May 6, free admission, which will heighten the audiences’ excitement.
