Award-winning and invited films from the JEONJU International Film Festival will be screened this October in Vancouver (Canada), Hungary, and Germany.
Upholding cultural diversity and inclusivity as core values, JEONJU IFF showcases diverse cultures and identities through cinema. We actively support the international distribution of Korean independent films, bringing them to broader audiences worldwide. By creating opportunities for directors and actors to meet audiences in person, we continue to showcase the excellence of Korean cinema on the global stage.

JEONJU IFF Special Screening at VIFF
In celebration of the Year of Korea-Canada Cultural Exchange, four award-winning and invited films from the JEONJU IFF will be featured in VIFF's Korean cinema special program, Spotlight on Korea.
The lineup includes Winter Light, winner of the Korean Competition Grand Prize at the 26th JEONJU IFF, along with 3670, Sua’s Home, and Edhi Alice Take. Each film will have two screenings, with directors attending in person to engage with local audiences.
Earlier this year, the 26th JEONJU IFF introduced 10 Canadian films through its Canada Focus program. This special screening further strengthens cultural exchange, promoting Korean independent cinema internationally and fostering dialogue between audiences from both countries.

JEONJU IFF × Hungarian Korean Film Festival Collaboration
The 18th Hungarian Korean Film Festival will feature a special collaboration with the JEONJU IFF, showcasing emerging directors. Ten JEONJU IFF-related films will be screened, with directors SHIM Hyeongjun (Clear) and KANG Yu-garam (Lucky, Apartment) attending in person.
Launched in 2007, the Hungarian Korean Film Festival has grown to become Central and Eastern Europe’s largest Korean film festival. This collaboration introduces Hungarian audiences to works highlighted at JEONJU IFF, a festival renowned for supporting alternative and independent cinema.

NONGSHIM SHINRAMYUN Award Winner Meets Berlin Audiences

👑 JEONJU Cinema Project Horoomon Award News
|
|
|

Director LEE Ilha’s Horoomon, supported by the JEONJU Cinema Project, has won the Grand Prix (Documentary Goyang Award) and Audience Award at the 22nd EBS International Documentary Festival (EIDF).
Horoomon depicts the struggles and solidarity of Koreans who migrated to Japan during the Japanese colonial period and their descendants, the Zainichi Koreans. First introduced at the JEONJU Cinema Project section of the 26th JEONJU IFF, it resonated deeply with audiences.
The JEONJU Cinema Project promotes low-budget feature films and has produced 38 films to date. In 2024, marking its 10th anniversary, the project toured globally, including screenings in Argentina and Spain. Stay tuned for new titles to be unveiled next year through the JEONJU Cinema Project!
