🙌Welcome Our New Programmer, Molly KIM!

We're delighted to share that Molly KIM has joined the JEONJU IFF as our newest programmer! She will work alongside programmers Sung MOON and MOON Seok to shape the 27th edition of JEONJU IFF.

Molly brings outstanding academic expertise and a wide-ranging career across film scholarship, criticism, and broadcasting. Her research centers on classic Korean and American cinema, and she has authored several books, including The Politics of Erotic Cinema: History of Film, Sex, and Women and ReFocus: The Films of Yim Soon Rye. Beyond academia, she has been a film critic, writer, and former host of Arirang Radio’s daily film program Cinefactory.

In Her Own Words

"I'm thrilled, and maybe a little nervous, to be joining JEONJU IFF at such a pivotal moment as the film industry, festivals, and generations of film artists are all transitioning," Molly shared. "Jeonju is a city bursting with cultural energy, and JEONJU IFF is a creative nest where I see endless possibilities to experiment and try new things. I'm grateful to everyone at the festival for giving me this opportunity to challenge myself. My hope and goal is to contribute to what could be the most exciting transformation JEONJU IFF has ever seen."

👋 Join us in welcoming Molly and looking forward to the new vision she will help shape with our programming team!

✔️Update on the JEONJU Cinema Project

The JEONJU Cinema Project has long been a cornerstone of JEONJU IFF’s commitment to discovering and supporting bold, creative film projects from Korea and around the world through direct production investment.

To strengthen the program’s sustainability and long-term impact, we are making some structural adjustments. As part of this mid- to long-term transition, the JEONJU Cinema Project: Next Edition 2026 will not take place.

However, our Project Development Support and Post-Production Support programs will continue as planned. Calls for applications will be announced in December, so please keep this timeline in mind as you plan your projects.

We deeply appreciate the trust and enthusiasm that filmmakers and industry professionals have shown for the JEONJU Project over the years. JEONJU IFF remains committed to fostering a vibrant, sustainable environment for independent cinema, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
